P5 have a ducktastic day at Castle Espie!

25th May 2017

On Thursday 25th May, P5 travelled to Castle Espie to learn lots about their new topic - Birds!

Each class got to experience bird watching in a bird hide with binoculars over Strangford Lough. They also got to feed the ducks, who seemed especially hungry today! We learned about a very special bird to Strangford Lough too, which is the pale bellied Brent Goose. They migrate from Artic Canad every year to get to Strangford Lough and it's incredible the journey that they have to take every year! We also got a look around a Neolithic round house, which linked back to our previous topic of Early Man.

This took us up to lunch time, when we got to go to the gift shop, which is always a highlight! We spent the last part of the day in the Wildwood Park having lots of fun with our friends.

A truly brilliant day was had by all! Check out our photos ... and there will be a video to come too!
